Seo-ocheung Stone Pagoda is National Treasure No. 109. The base of the main body has five stones, a feature not frequently seen in other pagodas. The balanced proportion of the protruding eave corners is typical of a Korean pagoda and the main body and levels that become slightly smaller from the bottom make the top seem higher. It is a marvelous creation with a beauty of strength from its stability and the elegance of the Goryeo Dynasty. A sarira case with various artifacts was found at the top of the main stone on the 2nd level when the pagoda was dismantled in 1961.
It is not clear when this house was built but was reportedly built by American missionary Wu Ilseon (Wilson) in the 1920s. It is the oldest building among the western-style buildings existing now in Gwangju. The wall adopted a Netherlands style using gray bricks with a thickness of 55mm. The inner wall was finished with plaster. Granite was placed around the edge of the floor that uses the underground heating system. The doors and windows are shaped in semicircle arches. Most windows used rowlocks and the windows have two layers : a casement as the outer window and a double hung window in the interior.
A brick band decorates the outer wall, surrounding the wall to divide the ground and the first floor. The flair of the main entrance was created by building to a thickness of 2B (about 40cm) and creating a corbel on the column by building up four layers on the second floor. Cultural Assets: 3 National Cultural Assets, 23 Municipal Cultural Asset (18 tangible and 5 intangible).
